This project was an extra curricular project that I had wanted to create for fun towards the end of the Fall 2024 semester. It is a collage of various pieces made from my friends and I in between working on projects for school. I wanted to showcase the talent of my friends and their diverse perspectives, interests, and humor outside of our direct major by allowing them to create freely. The assets for this project were entirely made of PlayDoh and were photographed, edited, and collaged by me.

Problem: I assigned myself and my fellow classmates at Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design this task with virtually no guidelines other than that it could not be an object or character from a preexisting IP and it had to be made out of PlayDoh. I added that it can be fun, represent you as a creative, or could be a piece of the landscape within the composition but ultimately there weren’t any restrictions.

Solution: I gave PlayDoh to all of my fellow classmates that wanted to participate in this project and let them create freely. Once everything was created physically, I took photos of all of these pieces and cut the pieces out so that I could add them to the composition. I began creating the landscape with various assets that I and a few of my friends made and then began placing different creatures and objects throughout the piece. To make everything appear unified, I added gradients and clipping masks of blurred paintbrush overlays to make the lighting of each of the objects cohesive and establish depth. I also made my own typeface out of PlayDoh that was used to promote both the stickers and poster respectively.
